Training School

What is a Training School?

A school awarded Training School status has already shown expertise in Teacher Training and has proved to be an excellent role model in the educating of children.

As Norfolk’s only Training School and Outstanding Primary School we see our role as helping to develop effective partnerships for the recruitment and training of teachers, support staff, administrative staff and teaching assistants.

Such partnerships includes:

  • Working with Nottingham University to provide P.G.C.E. School Centred Initial Teacher Training (OSCITT) for trainee teachers.
  • Building support networks for schools, working in partnership with other training schools and being a lead school for the Suffolk and Norfolk GTP programme.
  • Building up a support group of schools in Norfolk that understand the importance of Initial Teacher Training and the difference that each of them can make.
  • *Working with N.A.P.T.A. *(National Association for Professional Teaching Assistants) to provide opportunities for Teaching Assistants across Norfolk to meet half termly for Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • *Training Mid day supervisors * to deliver positive play times using co-operative learning through play.

Involvement in training not only benefits individual teachers but also the whole school by stimulating a learning environment that supports and enables higher achievement.

We enjoy working with others in response to the vital aims of developing the training elements of our educational provision in both local and national contexts.

We believe that Initial Teacher Training (ITT) underpins all aspects of CPD. Trainees bring a vast amount of skills, knowledge and experience into the profession. Trainees will become part of the corporate life of the school and all members of the school staff will contribute in supporting capacity by offering advice and experience to trainees as well as engaging in collaborative work.
